Party Boys

Published by under music

The DJ/MC for the evening is going to be The Party Boys. They were the Sadie Hawkins Dance DJs and come highly recommended. If anyone has special music requests, let me know and I will relay the requests.

Finding Our Way

Published by under theme

The theme for this year’s End-of-Eighth party is “Finding Our Way.” I am looking for loans/donations of maps, globes and any non-valuable items used when plotting a course. If anyone has connections to a travel agency that would let us use their discards, please contact the agency or give me the agency information.

BMS Clothing Closet

Published by under clothing

BMS is putting together a clothing closet to make sure that clothing is not an obstacle to attending the Eighth Grade Party. The event is going to be “Sunday best” and Knox County dress code rules do still apply. If you have any gently used teen style spring dresses, good slacks or dress shirts, please drop them off at the BMS office. Jodie McIntyre has generously taken the clothing closet idea and made it a reality. If you have any questions or ideas to help fill the clothing closet, she is the best person to contact. Even if you don’t have ideas, be sure to thank her for her hard work the next time you see her. Thank you Jodie!

Where should the party be held? It needs to be someplace that is large enough for all of the students and teachers. It should allow refreshments and decorations on the property. It needs to be a place where everyone feels comfortable and student safety can be guaranteed. It can’t be expensive. Ideas?

Just for fun, here’s a place to suggest all your favorite dancing songs.  New is nice, but old works just as well.  If you want to suggest something useful, name your favorite local DJ.  Not a radio DJ, but someone who could possibly be the DJ at the BMS dance.

Mark your calendars early

Published by under schedule

The last day of the of the 2009 – 2010 school year will be Friday, May 21st.  Because it is important that the dance be as minimally disruptive to the school day as possible, I am sending an e-mail to the eighth grade teachers asking them to choose the date of the dance. As soon as they decide on the date, I will post it on this site.

Let’s dance!

Published by under general,location

Welcome to the 8th grade!  It is a BMS/PTO tradition to celebrate the end of 8th grade with a dance.  It will be YOUR dance.  How do you imagine your dance?  Where is it going to be?  A restaurant?  A country club?  Knoxville has a little bit of everything, so let’s pick the perfect spot together.

Remember that this celebration is for ALL graduating 8th graders, their teachers and the school administrators.  Let’s pick a place that everyone can enjoy.  In the past, the 8th grade dance has been held at places like Calhouns on the river and Gettysvue Country Club.
