Call me wa kill-joy, but does it have to be somewhere besides BMS? Even if that’s the precedent? If expense for some kids is an issue, wouldn’t having it at the school make it easier for EVERYONE to attend? The other issues (security, decor, etc.) would be a breeze at BMS too. Easier to get kids involved in setting up, etc., too….

I went to “snooty hot tub middle school” in Bill Gates’ home town, and even WE just had all our dances at the school.

The guys who DJ’d BMS’s 6th grade dance (Fall, 2009) were great, and under-bid the other guys, too. These DJ’s really knew how to get the kids involved — EVERYONE was dancing! They had one guy spinning tunes while the other knew enough dance moves himself that he could lead everyone. Even the teacher chaperones and 7th & 8th grade Student Council members who were assisting at the dance were boppin’.

I think the Square Room sounds great, especially because it is Downtown Knoxville! We need to do more things downtown anyway and it is really a great atmosphere. I think the kids would be excited to have something in the actual City!! Plus they could walk around and eat before if they wanted to.

Calhouns on the River upstairs is also a great choice!! Kristi Miller

I have a friend who does DJ/karaoke. I think it’s, “Party with Marty”. She is a 45 year old female, so no vulgar stuff. I am also friends with the warehouse mgr. of “All occasion party rentals”. Maybe, I can get some friendly discounts.

The teachers have to choose the date, but I can ask them to consider graduation dates for Bearden and West. The BHS Prom is May 1st and graduation is May 22nd.

I LOVE the Square Room! Stage, sound system, limited exits and lots of places nearby for parents to have their own evening out. (My daughter was in the Calhouns group and she thought it was great.)
